JUNIOR VFX ARTIST (2 Year Contract)

Rocksteady Studios is looking to add to its family of staff!  Reporting to the Lead VFX Artist, the Junior VFX Artist will be responsible for the design and creation of world-class visual effects!

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create industry leading VFX to significantly raise the project’s visual bar
  • Work closely and be comfortable communicating across all teams and departments
  • Be able to follow direction and bring conceptual art to life
  • Have a good understanding of the project toolchain/game engine with a desire to improve technically
  • Continue to develop your skills and keep up to date with current and future industry trends

Technical Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of Max and Photoshop (An excellent knowledge of other 3D packages is also acceptable if able to transfer skillset)
  • Good knowledge of any real-time 3D engine (especially UE4)
  • Good knowledge of Fluid simulations and Rigid Body simulations.
  • Adequate knowledge of Houdini and Substance Designer with the intention to learn and improve your skill set in these two packages

Skill Requirements

  • Have a keen eye for detail and the ability to break down existing effects in games and films
  • Be highly self-motivated and show initiative as well as a willingness to learn
  • Be able to rise to challenges and problem solve when required
  • Have a real passion to raise the bar in real-time VFX
  • Very good ability to create VFX textures
  • Basic knowledge in modelling and UV mapping of basic props
  • Good knowledge of creating Shaders
  • Excellent understanding of what makes a great visual effect:
    • Timing
    • Anticipation
    • Colour
    • Impact
  • Visual understanding and ability to re-create natural phenomena i.e. Waves, lightning, electricity
  • Comfortable working in an environment of honest feedback & iterative design
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Have a great personality and be a pro-active person who has a constant desire to improve
  • Have a solid interest in game methodology
  • Understanding of traditional arts and fundamental art concepts. (Use of colour, contrast, composition, form.)
