Rocksteady Studios is looking to add to its family of staff. We are looking for an exceptionally talented Senior Human Resources Manager to join our team for a 12-month contract.


The successful candidate will be in charge of HR at Rocksteady and will work closely with the management team to develop and implement a high-quality HR strategy to ensure we have a high quality, efficient, professional, team that is well treated, supported, looked after, and motivated.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continue to grow a high quality, efficient, professional HR service – including line management responsibilities of the HR Officer and HR Apprentice.
  • Works to progress the studio values of being professional, efficient, [delivering] quality and treating people well.
  • Working closely with the Senior Leaders and Warner Bros HR to create, develop, and then successfully implement the Rocksteady HR strategic plan ensuring everyone is aligned in its vision.
  • Partner with Warner Media/ Warner Bros central teams to leverage best practices around L&D, Compensation & Benefits, Business Continuity, Legal and general HR practices.
  • Ensure the HR function is legally compliant in all areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain and proactively identify ways to improve the overall studio culture.
  • Manage the annual and quarterly performance reviews as well as the annual engagement survey.
  • Responsible for professional advice, guidance and support of all performance management, grievances, absence, maternity/paternity, etc.
  • Maintain, manage and proactively identify ways to improve all the HR policies and procedures, while ensuring the health, well-being and behaviour of all our staff are of excellent quality.
  • Manage all remuneration logistics and local payroll approval, including the annual salary and bonus review.
  • Manage all benefits and supporting staff incentives.
  • Oversee the management of staff attendance, absence and holiday systems.
  • Oversee the management of the staff databases.
  • Oversee the management of all on-boarding, probation periods and off-boarding processes, including the management of immigration of new employees and their relocation.
  • Partner with US and UK based Corporate functions.

Technical Requirements

  • Proven HR manager in an organisation circa 150 – 500 people. Proactive and results orientated.
  • Proven ability to operate, influence and collaborate at all levels within the organisation, particularly senior management.
  • Proven ability to take initiative using own discretion and skills and work with limited supervision but contributes effectively to the wider company benefit.
  • Previous experience managing complex HR issues including grievances and disciplinary’s.
  • CIPD qualified.
  • Confident, friendly, supportive, style of management.
  • Understanding of current legislation and HR compliance.
  • Previous experience working within a functional matrix structure, effectively communicating to a variety of partners, decision-makers, and interested parties.
  • Previously worked in a creative business is a plus (but not essential).

Skill Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in fast-moving development environments; the ability to alter course during the journey. Previous experience working well under tight time constraints.
  • Experience defining, designing, implementing, and supporting production process for creative teams.
  • Strong organisational and follow-through skills.
  • Familiar with dynamic company structures, with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Able to think outside of the box and suggest innovative solutions for the benefit of the business
  • Able to apply common sense to problems and solutions rather than relying on strict procedure
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, honestly and tactfully, both verbally and in writing in public communications, in front of groups, and through Executive level summaries
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail including proofing;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident communicating at all levels within the organisation;
  • Patient, calm and unflappable nature and flexibility in approach to workload;
  • Must be discreet, diplomatic and treat information within the department as highly confidential
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and HR Systems. Previous experience in Workday is a plus.
