SOUND DESIGNER (MUSIC)
2 YEAR CONTRACT

Rocksteady Studios is looking to add to its family of staff. We are looking for an exceptionally talented Sound Designer who is ready for the challenge of producing an AAA title on console platforms & PC. The ideal candidate will be enthused by both creative and technical facets of video game music. You are able to navigate with ease between score reading, defining playback behaviours in Wwise, editing music and some composition. You are dedicated and committed to creating a world-class musical experience and seeing the project through to its completion.

The Sound Designer is responsible for ensuring best in class music implementation across the game. They will report to the Audio Director and deal confidently and respectfully with composers, engineers, studios and musicians. They will have excellent people skills and stay calm under pressure. They will be excellent problem solvers and tactfully make perceptive and relevant suggestions on how to improve the music across the game.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and implement music from various composers.
  • Implement the Music Design and maintaining the music playback systems.
  • Work with the Audio Director and Audio Programmers to design new ways to trigger and implement music.
  • Liaise with composers on briefs and field composer queries.

Technical Requirements

  • At least one released title using Wwise and Unreal.
  • Excellent understanding of Pro Tools, Logic and other ‘music facing’ DAWs.
  • Excellent score reading and a high degree of musical proficiency.
  • Vast knowledge of up to date music production methods.
  • Proven composition skills.

Skill Requirements

  • Experience communicating with multiple disciplines, with different levels of competence about music issues. Be comfortable discussing in precise and clear terms the requirements of music systems.
  • Excellent ‘audio-QA’ skills. Be able to spot clicks, bad loops, awkward music transitions and other music implementation issues.
  • A great understanding of the power of music in video games.
  • Experience working in a studio using various hardware and software processors, patch bays, outboard etc would be beneficial.
